Event Description

Little Holland House was built between 1902-1904 by artist and craftsman Frank R. Dickinson. With no official architecture training, but with the love and support of his fiance, he designed and built the ideal family home the young couple dreamt of, and together they created the interior furnishings. This really is the ultimate DIY story.

The house regularly opens on the first Sunday of each month, but as part of both Heritage Open Days 2024 and Open House London 2024, the house will open for an additional day this September. With regular guided tours on offer, garden volunteers will also be on hand to share insights into their cottage garden planting following a recent small grant from the Metropolitan Public Garden Association. A 'History of the Dickinson Garden in Pictures' display will also feature in Frank's workshop, and local artists will be capturing the garden as it is today 'en plein air.'
