Event Description

Local author, Dr Velma McClymont, is visiting Sutton Central Library to read us her exciting new children's book: A Home for Mr No-Roach.

Children will hear the story of Mr No-Roach, a retired Jamaican shoemaker who loses his home and his belongings in a hurricane. When he seeks shelter in an abandoned castle, he meets storyteller Brer Anancy, and other friends along the way.

The book celebrates characters and stories from different cultures, with themes of migration, identity and friendship.

After hearing the story and asking the author all about the book, children will have the opportunity to make their own friendship bracelet to take home with them or give to a friend.

Perfect for children aged 5-8.
