Event Description

Join us for a fascinating, up-close encounter with the hidden world beneath our feet!

We’re incredibly excited to be joined by the experts at 🐜Ants HQ🐜, who are bringing their amazing living ant colony systems. You'll get to:👀 Observe these incredible, hardworking creatures in action.🌍 Discover why ants are just as vital to our ecosystems as bees.🇬🇧 Chat about our 60+ native UK ant species.💪 Learn how their superhero-like adaptations made them a global success. Hunt for ants in the Ecology Centre.

Please book one ticket per child, do not book a ticket for adults.

We will provide everything you need to explore.

Notes & Requirements

Important safety information: This course is an outdoor event (which will go ahead regardless of the weather) and walking conditions may be slightly muddy, and the weather unpredictable, so please make sure you and your child wear suitable clothing and footwear. The event is in a nature reserve, which means that there are the occasional stinging nettles and brambles, we advise that you and your child wear long trousers or leggings to minimise stings and scratches. There is also a higher risk of insect stings such as wasp or mosquito, if your child is allergic to stings, please ensure that you have their medication. You are required to stay with your child throughout the event and are responsible for your child's behaviour and safety. Please take care not to disturb or damage any of the habitats, plants or animals living at the nature reserve and never touch or feed the foxes or ducks.

There is one toilet on site.
