The Windrush Generation Exhibition Launch
Friday 2 October 2026 at 4:00PM
Whitehall Historic House
Event Description
The launch event will feature live music and spoken word performances, celebrating their resilience,
contributions, and enduring legacy.
Curated by Joseph Jeffers M.A. FRSA, Winston Churchill Fellow, the exhibition and accompanying
documentary present the personal stories of twelve older men and women. Through their own voices,
visitors will discover their journeys to the United Kingdom, the challenges they encountered, the
resilience they demonstrated in building new lives, and the lasting contributions they have made to
British society.
The exhibition features striking portraits by award-winning photographer Aneesa Dawoojee, accompanied by original poetry from the Sutton Women's Writing Group,
offering a powerful artistic response to the stories of the participants. Visitors are invited to reflect on the courage, perseverance and enduring legacy of the Windrush Generation, whose contributions have helped shape modern Britain.
