Event Description

Food does so much more than sustain us; it connects us.

A single dish can carry the history of a culture, the warmth of a family tradition, or the memory of a meal shared with someone special. Recipes are often passed from person to person, gathering stories as they go, and each time we recreate them, they can bring us back to a particular place, person, or moment in time.

This exhibition celebrates a selection of recipes from the Sutton Community Cookbook, a living digital collection grown from the recipes and stories generously shared by people who live, work, and cook in Sutton.

Together, these dishes offer a glimpse into the unique histories, memories, and diverse cultures that make up our borough. From cherished family favourites and heritage dishes to celebratory meals and everyday comforts, this exhibition invites you to explore the flavours of Sutton and the stories behind them.

The Sutton Community Cookbook is an evolving project, and we welcome more neighbours to add their culinary culture to the mix.

This exhibition is available to visit during the opening hours of Whitehall Historic House. Please check opening times before travelling to avoid disappointment.
