Event Description
Getting it Right for Children – Free Course for Separated and Separating Parents
Separation can be one of the most challenging times for families. While it's natural for parents to experience stress and disagreements, children can often find themselves caught in the middle.
Getting it Right for Children is a free, one-off daytime or evening course designed to support separated or separating parents to communicate more effectively and work together in the best interests of their children.
The course will help you to:
Understand how parental conflict can affect your child's emotional wellbeing.
Recognise when children may be getting caught in the middle of adult conflict.
Develop practical communication and negotiation skills.
Learn strategies to reduce conflict and work together more cooperatively as co-parents.
Focus on creating positive outcomes for your children, even when relationships have changed.
The course is suitable for parents who are separated or in the process of separating from their child's other parent and are finding communication difficult.
Who can attend?
This course is for parents only who:
Are separated or separating from their child's other parent.
Have at least one child under the age of 19 (or under 25 with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)).
Live in the London Borough of Sutton.
Please note: Both parents do not need to attend together. Parents are welcome to attend individually, and even if only one parent takes part, the skills and strategies learned can have a positive impact on the whole family.
This supportive, practical course will provide you with tools to help reduce conflict, improve co-parenting and ensure your children's needs remain at the heart of every conversation.
